DRC Mining Week Reassures Participants as Ebola Situation Monitored Ahead of 2026 Lubumbashi Event
DRC Mining Week 2026 Confirms Lubumbashi Event Amid Ebola Concerns, Says No Restrictions in Place
Organizers of DRC Mining Week 2026 have confirmed that preparations for the upcoming event remain on track despite recent public concern and media reports regarding Ebola cases in certain regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The event is scheduled to take place from June 17 to 19, 2026, at the Grand Karavia Hotel in Lubumbashi.
In a statement, the organizers emphasized that the safety, well-being, and trust of participants, partners, staff, and host communities remain the top priority.
They noted that the situation is being closely monitored in coordination with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Mines, the Chamber of Mines, as well as local and regional authorities.
According to current assessments and official guidance, no restrictions are in place that would affect the holding of DRC Mining Week in Lubumbashi.
The organizers stressed that the Democratic Republic of Congo is a large and geographically diverse country, and that health developments in one region do not necessarily reflect conditions across the entire territory.
They further confirmed that Lubumbashi, as well as Kinshasa, has reported no Ebola cases. Both cities remain fully operational, accessible, and continue normal commercial and professional activities.
Authorities in affected regions are actively managing the situation, including strict movement controls and regulated air access as part of established containment measures.
The statement also noted that there is currently no blanket international travel ban on the DRC.
However, some countries have introduced targeted measures such as entry restrictions, quarantine requirements, and enhanced health screening for travelers arriving from the country.
Event organizer VUKA Group stated that it has extensive experience delivering large-scale events across Africa and prioritizes responsible planning based on vigilance and preparedness.
In collaboration with the Grand Karavia Hotel and local stakeholders, enhanced health and safety protocols will be implemented in line with official recommendations.
The organizers added that they will continue to communicate transparently and promptly should the situation change.
For accurate health information on Ebola, including symptoms, transmission, and prevention, participants are encouraged to consult official guidance from the World Health Organization (WHO).
DRC Mining Week remains a key platform bringing together government representatives, investors, industry leaders, and mining professionals to support sustainable development and responsible growth of the mining sector in the DRC and across the region.
Organizers reaffirmed their commitment to welcoming participants safely to Lubumbashi in June 2026.
