A new report by Fitch Solutions cuts the research firm’s 2023 price forecasts for next year by double digits to $8,400 down from… Read More Here

Uganda will ‘go ahead’ with TotalEnergies megaproject despite EU criticism

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni said on Friday that he would go ahead with the planned oil megaproject with the French group TotalEnergies despite a European parliament resolution slamming his “human rights violations” against opponents. The project “will continue as stipulated in the contract we have with TotalEnergies and (Chinese oil giant) CNOOC,” Museveni said on Twitter. “TotalEnergies convinced me of the pipeline idea; if they choose to listen to the European parliament, we will find another partner to work with,” he added. “In any case, our oil will be extracted… Read More Here

Lithium price smashes new record as supply struggles to feed EV growth

The surge in prices of lithium, the key battery material used to power electric cars, is seemingly unstoppable. Lithium carbonate hit a fresh record of 500,500 yuan ($71,315) a ton in China Friday, according to data from Asian Metal Inc. Prices more than tripled in the past year, inflating the cost of batteries used in electric vehicles, with recent gains driven by strong demand and disruptions at a domestic producing hub. Consumer support for new-energy vehicles has been gathering pace amid a global transition away from fossil fuels. The China… Read More Here

Epiroc makes the ‘impossible possible’ with launch of Boltec ABR

Epiroc has taken another significant step forward in its rock reinforcement automation journey with the release of the Boltec Auto Bolt Reload (ABR). Combining the company’s ground support nous with its mechanisation and automation knowledge has resulted in a solution able to remove operators from the front end of the bolter – where personnel are most at risk of rock falls from unsupported ground – and increase bolting productivity, especially in poor ground conditions. With mining operations steadily going deeper as they develop existing and newly discovered orebodies, the rock… Read More Here

Glencore eyes adding lithium to trading business — report

Mining and commodities giant Glencore (LON: GLEN) is said to be evaluating the addition of lithium to the suite of metals it trades, as the battery metal has become the driving force behind electric vehicles (EVs) and concerns over lack of supply continue to grow.  The Swiss company would initially include lithium in its zinc and copper business run by Jyothish George and Nick Popovic, two unnamed sources told Reuters. Glencore does not own lithium mines, but has ventured into the metal recycling business this year. In February, it joined forces with… Read More Here

Gold price holds steady as traders weigh Fed rate path

Gold held steady as traders weighed monetary tightening path by the US Federal Reserve after economic data pointed to elevated inflation in consumer and producer prices. A measure of producer-prices fell for a second month in August, although it increased 8.7% from a year ago, Labor Department data showed Wednesday. The print come after hotter-than-expected consumer price data released the previous day and feed into mounting concerns about the breadth and pace of US inflation. Stubbornly-high inflation will likely keep the Fed’s aggressive interest-rate hikes on track for the coming… Read More Here

TANTALEX LITHIUM ACHIEVES 6+% LI2O SPODUMENE CONCENTRATE GRADE IN HLS METALLURGICAL TEST WORK ON THE K-DUMP

Heavy Liquid Separation (“HLS”) tests on a 2 ton bulk samples taken from the K-dump produced a 6+% Li2O spodumene concentrate at four different size classifications. HLS tests produced a 6.5% Li2O spodumene concentrate at overall lithium recoveries exceeding 60%. Fe2O3 content of +- 1.3% in final spodumene concentrate to be reduced further with magnetic separation in Phase 2 testworks. HLS testing is the industry standard lab bench scale testing to establish if physical metallurgy will be sufficient to beneficiate mineral deposits into sellable concentrates. In the K- dump, Li2O, Sn… Read More Here
