NFC Africa Mine’s Copper and Gold Production Rises Annually in Zambia

Non-Ferrous China Africa (NFCA), a subsidiary of China Nonferrous Metals Corporation (CNMC), has reported an annual increase in copper and gold production at its Chambishi-based mine in the Kalulushi district of Zambia’s Copperbelt Province. Copper production rose by more than 5,000 tons from 62,300 tons in 2021 to 67,600 tons in 2022, generating approximately $608 million at an average copper price of $9,000 per ton. Montepuez Ruby Mining (MRM) and Kagem Mining have contributed 537,625,000 meticais (8.4 million US dollars at the current exchange rate) in projects for local communities in Mozambique and Zambia. The chairperson of Mozambique’s publicly owned electricity company. EDM, Marcelino Alberto, on Wednesday 5th April announced that the Zambian government has paid off, in its entirety, its debt of 22 million dollars to EDM. He was speaking during a visit by Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema to the Maputo Thermal Power Station which is owned by EDM.
