Mopani monthly production averages 9,000 tonnes | Zambia
The ZCCM-IH Board of Directors and Management toured the Mopani Copper Mines Henderson Shaft, underground and the refinery in Mufulira, this morning. The Board is elated with the Zambian management team’s performance at Mopani post the acquisition.
Months prior to the acquisition on 31 March 2021, Mopani produced a monthly production averaging 3, 500 tonnes of copper cathodes, but now produces about 9, 000 tonnes.
ZCCM-IH holds 100% shares in the mine which comprises underground mines, a concentrator, a smelter, and a refinery at the Mufulira mine site, and underground mines, open pits, a concentrator, and a cobalt plant at the Nkana mine site in Kitwe.
