Exxaro Reshapes Leadership Structure to Drive Diversification and Sustainable Growth
Exxaro Announces New Management Structure and Leadership Appointments to Accelerate Diversification in Coal, Energy and Metals
JSE-listed Exxaro Resources has unveiled a revamped group management structure designed to position the company as “fit for the future” while reflecting its growing diversified portfolio across coal, energy, and transitional metals.
The new structure is aimed at stabilising operations, enhancing agility, improving collaboration, and enabling faster decision-making as Exxaro accelerates its sustainable growth and impact strategy.
Strengthened Executive Committee
The group executive committee, reporting directly to CEO Ben Magara, now includes:
Riaan Koppeschaar – Financial Director (FD)
Michelle Nana – Group Company Secretary
Joseph Rock – Executive Head of People and Performance
Caroline Shirindza – Executive Head of Coal (effective November 1)
Johan Meyer – Executive Head of Metals
Leon Groenewald – Executive Head of Energy
Mervin Govender – Executive Head of Technical Services
Richard Lilleike – Executive Head of Strategy and Business Development
Mongezi Veti – Executive Head of Sustainability (retiring July 31, 2026)
Exxaro has also appointed Neo Monareng as designate Executive Head of Sustainability, effective November 1, to succeed Veti upon his retirement.
