ZCCM-IH Declares K183 Million Dividend for 2025 as Investment Income Rises 40%
ZCCM-IH Pays K183 Million Dividend to Shareholders for 11th Consecutive Year
ZCCM Investments Holdings Plc (ZCCM-IH) has announced a total dividend payout of approximately K183 million to shareholders for the 2025 financial year, marking the 11th consecutive year the state-linked investment company has distributed dividends.
The announcement was made on October 12, 2026, during a cheque handover ceremony at the company’s conference hall in Lusaka, where ZCCM-IH presented dividends to the Government and other major shareholders.
ZCCM-IH Board Chairperson Phesto Musonda said shareholders approved a final dividend of K1.13 per share at the company’s Annual General Meeting held on September 11, 2026.
Of the total payout, approximately K110 million will go to the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), ZCCM-IH’s majority shareholder, while the Ministry of Finance and National Planning will receive about K32 million.
The National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) will receive approximately K27 million, with the remaining K14 million distributed among about 5,000 other shareholders in Zambia and abroad.
Mr Musonda said the latest distribution brings the company’s cumulative dividend payments to approximately K2.4 billion since 2015, demonstrating its ability to maintain shareholder returns despite challenges including volatile copper prices, drought, the COVID-19 pandemic and national debt restructuring.
He acknowledged that the latest dividend was lower than the record payout made the previous year, attributing the reduction to the Board’s decision to fully provide for a legacy legal matter and the appreciation of the kwacha, which reduced the local-currency value of the company’s dollar-earning assets.
However, he said investment income, which he described as a key measure of the company’s performance, increased by 40% in 2025.
The company’s earnings were supported by royalty payments from Kansanshi, based on revenue rather than profit, alongside maiden dividend payments from Maamba Energy and a strong dividend from Copperbelt Energy Corporation.
Musonda also highlighted ZCCM-IH’s repayment of US$150 million to Glencore in April 2026, which settled the company’s legacy debt, as well as its market valuation surpassing US$1 billion.
He emphasised that the dividends were funded by cash generated from the company’s investments rather than borrowing or asset disposals.
Speaking on behalf of the Government, Permanent Secretary for Economic Management and Investments at the Ministry of Finance and National Planning, Mulele M. Mulele, commended ZCCM-IH’s Board, management and staff for their efforts to strengthen financial performance, improve shareholder value and contribute to Zambia’s economic development.
Mulele said the dividend payment demonstrated the importance of prudent investment management, sound corporate governance and accountability in ensuring that public investments generate tangible returns for the country.
He urged the company to build on its performance by strengthening its investment portfolio, improving operational efficiency and pursuing commercially viable opportunities capable of delivering sustainable returns over the long term.
Mulele also highlighted ZCCM-IH’s strategic role in Zambia’s mining and energy sectors, noting its potential to support economic growth, employment creation, foreign exchange generation and domestic revenue mobilisation.
He said the company should continue promoting value addition in the mining sector, increasing domestic participation in mining supply chains and supporting industries that create jobs, develop local capacity and retain more economic value within Zambia.
Meanwhile, Musonda said the company intended to strengthen its position as an active investor in mining and energy, maintaining its shareholdings on commercial terms while acting as an engaged and responsible shareholder.
He added that ZCCM-IH would seek to extend the royalty-based investment model where it proved commercially effective, following the example of Kansanshi.
The company is also working with partners to advance exploration licences into producing mines and supporting efforts to formalise small-scale gold mining, with the aim of bringing more gold production into the formal economy.
Musonda further stressed that investment in energy would remain a priority, given the importance of reliable power supply to Zambia’s ambition of producing three million tonnes of copper.
He said ZCCM-IH would present a new ten-year strategy at its Shareholder Open Day in November 2026, outlining its plans for growth and increased shareholder returns.
The dividend distribution reinforces ZCCM-IH’s position as a major investment vehicle in Zambia’s mining and energy industries, while placing renewed emphasis on portfolio growth, commercial sustainability and the contribution of public investments to national development.
