DRC and Zambia Advance $850 Million Luapula Corridor to Strengthen Regional Trade
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Zambia are advancing plans for an estimated $850 million infrastructure corridor designed to strengthen trade, transport links and economic integration between the two countries.
The project is centred on the Luapula River, which forms part of the border between DRC and Zambia.
It is expected to combine transport infrastructure with improved cross-border connectivity, creating a more efficient route for the movement of goods between the two markets.
The corridor is strategically important for the mining sector, particularly as the Copperbelt and surrounding regions account for significant volumes of copper and other minerals.
